Target Deficit Calculator

Find out exactly how many consecutive wins you need to hit your goal.

Whether you're managing a customer support queue, a quality control process, or a sales conversion funnel โ€” this tool tells you the precise number of consecutive successes needed to move your overall rate from where it is today to your target. No guesswork. Just math.

How the Formula Works

Given your current success count S = Rate ร— Volume / 100, and total cases N, we solve for X (consecutive wins needed):

(S + X) / (N + X) = Target / 100
โ†’ X = (Target ร— N โˆ’ 100 ร— S) / (100 โˆ’ Target)

This assumes every future case is a success. The result is the minimum streak needed.

Example

You've handled 100 tickets with a 70% success rate (70 successes, 30 failures). Your target is 90%.

X = (90 ร— 100 โˆ’ 100 ร— 70) / (100 โˆ’ 90) = (9000 โˆ’ 7000) / 10 = 200 consecutive wins

Frequently Asked Questions

What if my target equals 100%?

A 100% target is mathematically impossible to reach once any failure exists in your history โ€” the formula produces infinity. The tool will flag this scenario.

Does this assume future cases are all successes?

Yes โ€” the result is the minimum streak under ideal conditions. If some future cases are failures, you'll need even more wins.

Can I use this for conversion rates, CSAT, or QA scores?

Absolutely. Any metric expressed as a percentage success rate over a volume of events works with this calculator.
